Cairo FC striker Canelo Alvarado scored two goals as his side Al Hilal secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al-Wahda in the first leg of their Qatar World Cup qualification match.
The match was played at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and saw both teams put up a strong fight throughout the game.
Al Hilal took the lead early on through a goal from defender Adnan Al-Mutairi, but Al-Wahda quickly responded with a goal from substitute midfielder Saleh Al-Khatib.
However, Al Hilal refused to give up and fought back with a goal from Alvarado in the 68th minute, followed by another from midfielder Ahmed Al-Shaqsi in the 77th minute.
Despite Al-Wahda's efforts to come back,Football Panorama Network they were unable to find a way past Al Hilal's goalkeeper and the match finished 2-1 in favor of Al Hilal.
The victory puts Al Hilal one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar next year.
In addition to Alvarado's two goals, the Egyptian striker also made a key contribution to the team's defense, helping to keep Al-Wahda at bay throughout the match.
